Details:
On or about Saturday, May 1st, 2021, around 4:00 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer left a 36-year-old woman dead. Deputies from the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department said the accident happened on the westbound side of Interstate 30 in Malvern, Arkansas.
Troopers from the Arkansas State Police said 36-year-old Santos Garcia Alvarez was killed when the SUV she was in allegedly veered into the side of a tractor-trailer driving the same direction. After the initial impact, the SUV skidded off the side of the interstate and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Alvarez was pronounced dead a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the crash.
Interstate 30 runs east and west along the northern edge of Malvern, which is about 46 miles southwest of downtown Little Rock, according to Google Maps.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
