On or about Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, around 7:22 in the morning, a single-vehicle rollover accident with a panel van left one woman dead and sent two other people to the hospital. Troopers from the VSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 64 in James City County, Virginia.

Representatives from the Virginia State Police said 30-year-old Sara Maria Diaz-Nieto was killed, while 31-year-old Humberto Vara-Luna and Wlber Escobar-Orellana were injured when the panel van they were in allegedly drove off the side of Interstate 64 and rolled multiple times. Diaz-Nieto was pronounced dead of her injuries a short time after emergency responders arrived at the scene. Vara-Luna, the driver of the panel van, and passenger Escobar-Orellana were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 63 winds east and west through James City County, which is about 52 miles southeast of Richmond.

State and local authorities assisted at the scene of the accident.
