Details:
On or about Friday, April 29th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a pickup truck and an SUV left one person dead and injured two others. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 62 in Hockley County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas DPS said 63-year-old Scot Douglas Bendixsen was killed when the SUV he was riding in was allegedly hit by a pickup truck that crossed over the center line of the roadway on Highway 62 and drove the wrong direction on the roadway. Emergency responders rushed Bendixsen to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the SUV sustained unspecified injuries, but it is not clear if they were taken to the hospital. or if they were treated at the scene.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about four and a half miles northeast of Ropesville.
Police are still examining the cause of the crash.
