On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, around 12:30 in the afternoon, a major chain-reaction accident between fourteen vehicles, including at least one tractor-trailer, sent several individuals to the hospital. Representatives from the MSP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Highway 131 near the exchange with 100th Street in Kent County, Michigan.

Spokespeople from the Michigan State Police said multiple individuals were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and jackknifed, causing a chain-reaction accident with fourteen other vehicles along the northbound side of Highway 131. Emergency responders transported an unspecified number of individuals from the scene ot a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 21 miles south of downtown Grand Rapids.

Officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
