On or about Monday, October 11th, 2021, shortly after midnight, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a law enforcement officer on foot left one person dead. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along Interstate 10 in La Paz County, Arizona.

Authorities said Sgt. Michael Rudd was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer after he had exited his police patrol vehicle during a pursuit along Interstate 10. Paramedics rushed Rudd to a hospital in Blythe, California where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Officials did not mention any other injuries stemming from the incident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 cuts east and west through La Paz County, which is about 135 miles northwest of Phoenix.
