Details:
On or about Monday, January 24th, 2022, in the early morning hours, a hit-and-run accident with an alleged drunk driver left a 45-year-old Harris County Sheriff’s Sargent dead. Authorities from the HCSO said the accident was reported along the Beltway 8 in Houston, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 45-year-old Sgt. Ramon Gutierrez was killed when he was allegedly struck a vehicle while he was working on a motorcycle duty along Beltway 8. After the initial accident, the vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Emergency responders airlifted Gutierrez to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after the accident.
Officials have since apprehended 40-year-old Lavilla Spry with with intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer, failure to stop and render aid resulting in death and evading in a motor vehicle in connection with the accident.
