Details:
On or about Friday, November 5th, 2021, around 8:30 in the morning, a major tractor-trailer accident in a construction zone left two individuals dead. Troopers from the MSP said the accident was reported along Highway 23 in Isoco County, Michigan.
Authorities said 47-year-old Shawn Kelley and 39-year-old Jennifer Arocha were killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into several vehicles in the construction zone where Kelley was working as a flagger. Arocha was in one of the vehicles and died a short time after the accident, along with Kelley. Police did not indicate what may have led the tractor-trailer to crash into the work zone.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance south of Oscoda Township, which is about 194 miles north of downtown Detroit.
Michigan State Police reponded to the scene of the accident to assist.
