Details:
On or about Monday, January 4th, 2021, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left a 23-year-old woman dead and sent a 51-year-old man to the hospital. Deputies from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of Floyd Springs Road and Highway 156 in Armuchee, Georgia.
Troopers from the GSP said 23-year-old Shelby Dowdy was killed when her Toyota Corolla was allegedly hit by an 18-wheeler when she failed to yield at the intersection of Highway 156 while driving on Floyd Springs Road. Paramedics pronounced Dowdy dead of her injuries a short time after the collision.
Officers identified the truck driver as 51-year-old Kenneth Craig, who was taken to Floyd Medical Center with unspecified injuries stemming from the crash.
Georgia State Police and officials from Floyd County are investigating the accident.
