On or about Thursday, April 29th, 2021, around 5:45 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a heavy duty pickup truck left a 41-year-old Muncie, Indiana man dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident happened along Highway 155 just outside Winona in Smith County, Texas.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Department said 41-year-old Stephan Ernest Nipper was killed when he was allegedly struck by a Ford F-450 as he was walking near or across the roadway. Paramedics pronounced Nipper dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. No other injuries were mentioned in the initial police statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance south of Winona, which is about 102 miles east of Dallas.
Texas DPS and Deputies from Smith County assisted at the scene of the accident.
