Details:
On or about Friday, February 18th, 2022, sometime in the evening hours, an accident between a U-Haul truck and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead and sent another to the hospital. Officers from the NMSP said the accident was reported along Highway 54 in Quay County, New Mexico.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 53-year-old Stephanie Chasar was killed and another as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the U-Haul they were in head-on while the 18-wheeler was attempting a passing maneuver. Emergency responders pronounced Chasar dead a short time after the accident, while a passenger in the U-Haul was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to Google Maps, Quay County is about 192 miles east of Albuquerque.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist after the accident.
