On or about Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, around 11:35 at night, a major two-vehicle car accident left one person dead and sent another person to the hospital. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 62 just outside Orange, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives said 48-year-old Stephanie Smith was killed when the vehicle she was driving allegedly veered over the center line and struck a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Christina Johnson. Paramedics pronounced Smith dead a short time after the accident, while Johnson was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about a half mile north of Orange.
