Details:
On or about Thursday, December 31st, 2020, an accident between a motor home and a tractor-trailer claimed the lives of a man and woman from Las Vegas, Nevada. Troopers from the DPS said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 in Tornillo, Texas.
Authorities said 72-year-old Stephen Govaker and 57-year-old Sherri La Rhonda Rogers were killed when an 18-wheeler allegedly struck their motor home after the truck suffered a tire blowout. Govaker and Rogers died of their injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention if the truck driver suffered injuries.
According to Google Streetview, Interstate 10 is four lanes in the area, with a grassy median dividing east and westbound traffic. Tornillo is located about 39 miles southeast of El Paso.
State and local law enforcement responded to the scene to aid in the investigation.
