On or about Friday, October 2nd, 2020, a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer killed one man and sent another to the hospital. Deputies from Harrison County said that the accident happened at the intersection of FM 2625 and FM 31 just south of Marshall, Texas.

Police representatives said that 44-year-old Arp resident Steven Craig Braswell was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving was hit by a Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck driven by 75-year-old Roger Lee Beard that allegedly failed to yield at the intersection.

Braswell’s tractor-trailer jackknifed into a ditch and collided with a pole a short distance off the pavement after the initial collision. A moment later, the truck burst into flames.

Paramedics rushed Braswell to LSU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, October 3rd, 2020. Beard was treated for unspecified injuries after the collision.

Troopers from the DPS and deputies from Harrison County are still investigating the incident.
