On or about Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, around 7:25 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a heavy duty truck claimed the life of a 25-year-old Bradford man. Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Highway 384 in Newport, Arkansas.
Troopers from the Arkansas State Police said 25-year-old Steven Poole was killed when his pickup allegedly swerved to avoid a collision with a turning heavy-duty truck. Poole’s truck skidded off the road and rolled. Poole was ejected from the vehicle in the crash and died of his injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 384 cuts east and west through Newport, which is about 91 miles northeast of downtown Little Rock.
Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
