On or about Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, a major accident between a NASCAR tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle towing a trailer left one person dead and sent three others to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 20 near Estes Parkway in Gregg County, Texas.

Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 54-year-old Steven Stotts was killed, while John Zaverl, Michael Mizzelle and Young Mo Kang were injured when the tractor-trailer Stotts was driving allegedly hit the back of Kang’s Honda. After the initial accident, the tractor-trailer rolled. Stotts was pronounced dead, while his passengers, Zaverl and Mizzelle were treated for unspecified injuries. Kang was also treated for injuries stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 winds east and west through Gregg County.

Police are still investigating the accident.
