On or about Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021, around 10:34 at night, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman and sent three other people to the hospital. Deputies from the Drew County Sheriff’s Department said the accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and State Highway 138 in Winchester, Arkansas.

Troopers from the Arkansas State Police said 24-year-old Summer Thomas was killed, while 24-year-old Gregory Thomas and a juvenile passenger was injured when the car they were in allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and State Highway 138 and collided with a tractor-trailer. Thomas was pronounced dead of her injuries after the crash, while Campbell and the young passenger were taken to Delta Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 46-year-old Kerwin Stokes, who was also taken to Delta Memorial Hospital following the accident.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and State Highway 165 is a short distance east of Winchester, which is situated about 95 miles southeast of Little Rock.

Police are still investigating.
