On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, sometime in the hours after dark, a serious single-vehicle car accident claimed the life of a 16-year-old driver. Deputies from the Glasscock County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Ranch Road 33 in Garden City, Texas.

Authorities from the area said an as-of-yet unidentified 16-year-old was killed when the Toyota Tundra they were driving allegedly veered off the side of the road, collided with a fence, and rolled. The driver of the Tundra was ejected from the vehicle in the crash and was subsequently pronounced dead of his injuries. Police did not mention any other vehicles or injuries in their statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Garden City is situated about 136 miles south of downtown Lubbock.

Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
