On or about Sunday, January 31st, 2021, around 4:40 in the morning, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a car sent three people to the hospital. Troopers from the CHP said the accident happened on the westbound side of Interstate 10 just outside Chiriaco Summit, California.

California Highway Patrol representatives said three people were rushed to the hospital after a tractor-trailer and a car collided under unspecified circumstances while driving on the Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway. First responders cut all three victims from the wreckage before taking them to a nearby hospital.

Google Maps shows Interstate 10 (Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway) runs east and west through the area. Chiriaco Summit is located about 188 miles northeast of San Diego.

Multiple agencies responded to the accident to assist in the investigation.
