On or about Friday, October 16th, around 9:30 in the morning, a collision between an 18-wheeler hauling a wide load and a fire truck sent three people to the hospital. The collision happened on the Webster Pike near the exchange with Simpson Road in Taylor County, West Virginia.

Authorities familiar with the crash said that three people on a fire truck were injured when a wide-load tractor-trailer allegedly struck a Chevrolet Cobalt and a Belington Fire Department truck with the earth moving equipment it was hauling. Officers indicated that the Cobalt heeded the wide load warnings, but there was not enough room on the road.

EMS transported the driver of the fire truck and two other occupants to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Looking at the area on Google Streetview shows Webster Pike (Highway 119) running north and south, and is two lanes. Simpson Road is also two lanes, which run east and west, with a “T” intersection at Highway 119. Webster is located roughly 107 miles east of Charleston.

Investigators hope to release more information about the accident at a later date.
