On or about Saturday, January 1st, 2022, around 1:00 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a minivan left three individuals dead and sent four other people to the hospital. Deputies from the HCSO said the accident was reported at the intersection of Barkers Branch Drive and Barkers Cypress Road in Harris County, Texas.

Representatives from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department said three as-of-yet unidentified individuals were killed, while four other people were injured when a Toyota Sienna minivan allegedly failed to yield and attempted a turn at the intersection of Barkers Branch Drive and Barkers Cypress Road when it struck a Toyota RAV4. Three people were ejected from the minivan in the crash. Two died of their injuries at the scene, while the third succumbed to their injuries a short time after being transported to a nearby hospital. Two other passengers and the driver in the Toyota Sienna minivan and the driver of the Toyota RAV4 were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officials said they suspected the driver of the Toyota RAV4 may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident, but noted the Toyota Sienna minivan appeared to be at fault.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the far west side of the Houston metroplex.

Police are still investigating the accident.
