Details:
On or about Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, around 3:30 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a tandem tractor-trailer claimed the lives of three individuals. Highway Patrol said the accident happened on the southbound side of the 57 Freeway near Temple Avenue in Pomona, California.
Authorities said three as-of-yet unidentified people were killed when the SUV they were in allegedly collided with the back of a tandem tractor-trailer. Police photos from the scene show the tractor-trailer on the shoulder of the freeway. All three occupants were pronounced dead of their injuries a short time after the collision.
Investigators closed the two right lanes in order to tend to the scene.
Google Maps shows the 57 freeway is eight lanes with a concrete barrier dividing north and southbound traffic. Pomona is located about 29 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
California Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
