Details:
On or about Thursday, January 6th, 2022, around 12:30 in the morning, an accident between a fire truck and a tractor-trailer left two firefighters dead. Deputies from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Route 151 just outside Mineral Point, Wisconsin.
Authorities from the Wisconsin State Patrol said two as-of-yet unidentified firefighters were killed when the fire truck they were in was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as the truck was in an emergency crossover lane on Route 151. Emergency responders pronounced the driver and passenger in the fire truck dead of their injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Law enforcement spokespeople from the area the fire truck was on the way to an emergency call when the accident occurred.
According to Google Maps, Iowa County is situated about 122 miles west of downtown Milwaukee.
Police are still investigating the crash.
