Details:
On or about Sunday, January 16th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a FedEx tractor-trailer, a DOT truck, and a police patrol vehicle sent two individuals to the hospital. Troopers from the LSP said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 10 in Iberville Parish, Louisiana.
Law enforcement officials said an Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Department deputy and a DOT employee were injured when a FedEx tractor-trailer allegedly crashed into a previous accident scene that was being tended to by the other vehicles. Emergency responders transported the deputy and the DOT employee to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
Authorities have since identified the driver of the FedEx tractor-trailer as John Guerin, who currently faces charges of negligent injuring, careless operation, and failure to obey signs in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from the Basin Bridge and Whiskey Bay.
Police are still investigating the accident.
