Details:
On or about Monday, November 1st, 2021, around 10:30 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a log truck sent a man and woman to the hospital. Authorities from the MSP said the accident was reported on Norridgewock Road at or near the intersection with Middle Road in Fairfield, Maine.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 63-year-old Thomas Scholtens and 59-year-old Cynthia Sawtelle were injured when the car they were in allegedly turned into the path of a log truck at the intersection of Norridgewock Road and Middle Road. Officials believe Scholtens may have been blinded by the sun in the moments before the collision. Paramedics transported Scholtens and Sawtelle to the hospital with unknown injuries.
According to Google Maps, Norridgewock Road winds north and south into Fairfield, which is about 77 miles north of Portland.
State and local police assisted at the scene of the accident.
