On or about Wednesday, January 26th, 2022, around 8:57 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a school bus sent two teenagers to the hospital. Investigators from the VSP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Route 719 and Route 29 in Pittsylvania, Virginia.

Authorities from the Virginia State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were injured when a school bus driven by Virgil Clay allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Route 719 and Route 29. Paramedics transported the teen occupants in the pickup truck to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the collision.

Officials have since cited Virgil Clay with failing to obey a traffic signal in connection with the crash.

Police are still investigating the incident.
