On or about Friday, December 10th, 2021, around 4:15 in the morning, a major accident between an 18-wheeler and a tractor-trailer sent two individuals to the hospital. Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 380 at or near the exchange with Forevergreen Road in North Liberty, Iowa.

Authorities from the Iowa State Police said two as-of-yet unidentified individuals were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the side of an 18-wheeler that had jackknifed across the northbound lanes of I-380. Emergency responders transported the drivers of both tractor-trailers to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 380 cuts north and south along the western edge of North Liberty, which is situated about 19 miles south of Cedar Rapids.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident.
