On or about Tuesday, March 9th, 2021, around 4:41 in the afternoon, a multi-vehicle accident with several tractor-trailers sent two people to the hospital. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported on the eastbound side of Interstate 70 just outside Casey in Cumberland County, Illinois.

Officials from the Illinois State Police said two people were rushed to the hospital after six tractor-trailers and a car collided in a chain-reaction accident. Police did not specify how the accident may have started. Paramedics airlifted one person to the hospital, while a second was taken by ambulance.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 70 runs east and west just north of Casey, which is about 77 miles south of Champaign.

State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene of the accident.
