On or about Saturday, September 18th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV sent two people to the hospital. Representatives from the NCHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 77 in Iredell County, North Carolina.

Authorities said two as-of-yet unidentified people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly changed lanes and struck a nearby SUV. After the initial collision, both the SUV and the tractor-trailer struck a barrier on the side of the interstate before they burst into flames. The truck driver and the driver of the SUV were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 77 runs north and south through the center of Iredell County, which is about 45 miles southwest of Winston-Salem.

State and local authorities assisted at the scene of the incident.
