On or about Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, around 1:00 in the afternoon, a chain-reaction accident between a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles sent two individuals to the hospital. Officials from the WVHP said the accident was reported on the northbound side of Interstate 79 on the Big Sandy Bridge near Big Chimney in Kanawha County, West Virginia.

Law enforcement representatives said two-as-of-yet unidentified individuals were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and jackknifed when it collided with two other nearby vehicles on northbound I-79. Two people were transported from the scene to a nearby hospital, where one of the victims was last reported in critical condition by medical personnel.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 79 runs north and south through Kanawha County, with the scene of the accident located about 9 miles north of Charleston.

Officials are still investigating the crash.
