On or about Monday, July 19th, 2021, around 7:15 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck and a charter bus claimed the lives of two people. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported on the southbound side of Highway 82 near the southern tip of Pleasure Island in Port Arthur, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said two as-of-yet unidentified people were killed when a dump truck and a charter bus collided under unspecified circumstances near the Causeway Bridge on Highway 82. Paramedics pronounced both victims dead of their injuries after the accident, but officials did not specify which vehicle the victims were in at the time of the collision.
According to Google Maps, Highway 82 runs north and south through Port Arthur, with the scene of the accident situated not far from the Louisiana state line spanning Sabine Lake.
Police are still investigating the accident.
