On or about Saturday, December 12th, 2020, around 6:45 in the evening, an accident between a commercial van, a Toyota passenger vehicle, a pickup truck, and a Chevrolet Tahoe claimed the lives of two people. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on Interstate 69 near the San Jacinto River in Cleveland, Texas.

Texas DPS Troopers said two as-of-yet unidentified people were killed when the Toyota they were in was allegedly rear-ended by commercial van and pushed into a nearby pickup truck. The commercial van continued onward and struck a Chevrolet Tahoe. One person in the Toyota died at the scene, while a second occupant was rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the commercial van was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. It is not clear if the drivers of the pickup or the Tahoe were injured.

According to Google Maps, Cleveland is located roughly 45 miles northeast of downtown Houston.

State and local law enforcement agencies are assisting in the accident investigation.
