On or about Sunday, August 15th, 2021, around 12:57 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman. Representatives from the CHP said the accident occurred along the 5 Freeway in Granada Hills, California.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol said an as-of-yet unidentified 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were killed when the Lexus passenger vehicle they were in allegedly struck the back of a parked tractor-trailer. Both the driver and passenger in the car were pronounced dead from the injuries they sustained in the crash. Officials said both occupants were decapitated in the crash.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident happened not far from the 405 Freeway in Granada Hills, which is about 25 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene of the accident.
