On or about Saturday, December 4th, 2021, around 10:00 in the morning, a major chain-reaction accident between a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles claimed the lives of two people. Representatives from the New Mexico State Police said the accident was reported along Highway 60 just outside Magdalena in Socorro County, New Mexico.

Law enforcement spokespeople said two as-of-yet unidentified individuals were killed when a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles collided in a chain-reaction collision along Highway 60. Police did not elaborate what may have started off the chain-reaction. Emergency responders pronounced two people dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the collision, but officials did not specify which vehicle or vehicles the victims were in at the time of the crash.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Magdalena, which is located roughly 103 miles south of Albuquerque.

New Mexico State Police assisted local officials after the incident.
