Details:
On or about Sunday, October 18th, 2020, around 2:00 in the afternoon, a collision between a car and a tractor-trailer left two women dead and sent two others to the hospital. Officials said that the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 59 and Farm-to-Market 624 north of George West in Live Oak County, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers said that two women were killed and two others were injured when the car they were in allegedly ran a stop sign on FM 624 at the intersection with Hwy 59 when it was hit by a southbound 18-wheeler. Two occupants died after the collision, while first responders rushed two others to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.
Examining the intersection where the accident took place on Google Maps shows that Highway 59 is two lanes running north and south, with FM 624 running east and west. The intersection is about 15 miles north of George West. George West is 62 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office are assisting Texas DPS with the accident investigation.
