On or about Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, around 3:30 in the afternoon, a tractor-trailer accident claimed the lives of two people. Authorities from the NMSP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 10 just outside Lordsburg in Hidalgo County, New Mexico.

New Mexico State Police said two as-of-yet unidentified individuals were killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and rolled on I-10. Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead of their injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not indicate if there were any more vehicles besides the 18-wheeler in the crash.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 runs east and west through Hidalgo County, which is seated on the southern edge of the Arizona state line.

Police are still investigating the accident.
