On or about Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021, around 3:07 in the afternoon, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the lives of two individuals. Officials from the Department of Transportation said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 20 just outside Thomson in Columbia County, Georgia.

Officials from the area said two as-of-yet unidentified people were killed when the car they were in allegedly ran into the back of a tractor-trailer while driving westbound on I-20-. Emergency responders pronounced two victims dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 runs east and west just north of Thomson, which is about 32 miles west of Augusta.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
