Details:
On or about Thursday, May 13th, 2021, around 7:45 in the evening, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left two people dead. Troopers from the CHP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 8 near Buckman Springs Road in Pine Valley, California.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Department said two as-of-yet unidentified people were killed when the tractor-trailer they were in allegedly veered off the eastbound side of Interstate 8 and crashed down an embankment. After the initial accident, the truck burst into flames. Both occupants were pronounced dead of their injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 8 runs east and west through Pine Valley, which is located roughly 43 miles east of San Diego.
Authorities are still working to determine what may have led to the accident.
