On or about Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, around 1:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler claimed the lives of two individuals. Troopers from the PSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 81 near the Hegins exit in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Law enforcement representative said two as-of-yet unidentified men were killed when the tractor-trailer they were in allegedly struck the back of a semi truck that was stopped or slowed in traffic on southbound I-81. Emergency responders pronounced two men dead of their injuries at the scene of the collision. Officials did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 81 winds north and south through Schuylkill County, with the scene of the accident situated about 113 miles northwest of downtown Philadelphia.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
