Details:
On or about Thursday, March 18th, 2021, around 10:22 at night, an accident involving four tractor-trailers, a pickup truck and a car left two people dead. Authorities from the SCHP said the accident happened on the northbound side of Interstate 85 near Gaffney in Cherokee County, South Carolina.
Law enforcement spokespeople said a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of stopped or slowed traffic, causing a chain-reaction accident with three other tractor-trailers, a Nissan car, and a pickup truck. Paramedics pronounced one of the truck drivers and one person in the Nissan dead at the scene of the accident.
Police shut down all the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 for several hours in order to clear the accident scene.
State and local law enforcement are still investigating the incident.
