Details:
On or about Thursday, September 16th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a bucket truck claimed the life of a 27-year-old Weatherford man. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred along Highway 281 near the intersection with Oak Court in Blanco County, Texas.
Authorities from the area said 27-year-old Tyler Whitmire was killed when the bucket truck he was driving allegedly experienced an unexpected tire blowout. The truck allegedly veered into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. Emergency responders pronounced Whitmire dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 287 runs north and south through the center of Blanco County, which is situated about 53 miles west of downtown Austin.
Police are still investigating.
