Details:
On or about Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, around 10:42 at night, a major hit-and-run accident claimed the life of one individual. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported in the northbound 13500 block of Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas.
Investigators from the Austin Police Department said Uriel Veloz was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing Nissan Pathfinder SUV as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 North. After the initial accident, the Nissan Pathfinder SUV fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced Veloz dead of his injuries after the accident, but it s not currently clear if he died at the scene or after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 35 runs north and south through the center of Austin.
Police are still trying to track down the Pathfinder and the driver.
