On or about Tuesday, June 15th, 2021, around 12:10 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 61-year-old man. Troopers from the VSP said the accident was reported on the westbound side of Interstate 64 in Louisa County, Virginia.

Authorities said 61-year-old Vennor Peaks was killed when his Chevrolet Trailblazer was allegedly rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on I-64 near the exit for Route 208. Paramedics rushed Peaks to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 64 runs east and west along the southern edge of Louisa County, which is situated about 53 miles northeast of downtown Richmond.

Virginia State Police assisted local officials at the scene of the accident.
