Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, a major tractor-trailer accident in a construction zone left a truck driver dead and sent a construction worker to the hospital. Troopers from the CSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 70 just outside Silverthorne in Summit County, Colorado.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 43-year-old Vipan Kumar Mengi was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly crashed into several vehicles in a construction zone just off the side of I-70. Mengi died of his injuries a short time after the accident, while a construction worker, identified as Timofey Malyshkin was taken to the hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Silverthorne, which is about 60 miles west of downtown Denver.
State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
