Details:
On or about Wednesday, October 14th, 2020, around 3:55 in the afternoon, an accident between a car, a pickup truck, and a tractor-trailer left one woman dead and sent a man to the hospital. Sheriff’s Deputies said the accident happened on Highway 34 near the intersection with Washington Street in Kaufman County, Texas.
Authorities said 74-year-old Virginia Casper was killed and Jeffery Wells was injured when their vehicles were allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that swerved from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes. Casper, who was driving a car, was pronounced dead after the accident. Wells, who was driving a pickup truck, was taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
Google Streetview shows Highway 34 runs north and south, while Washington Street is two lanes running eastbound. The intersection is governed by a stoplight.
Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting with the accident investigation at this time.
