On or about Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, an accident between three tractor-trailers sent a 64-year-old man to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 151 and Wendling Lane in Linn County, Iowa.
Authorities from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said 64-year-old Wayne Myhre was injured when three tractor-trailers collided in a chain-reaction accident when an 18-wheeler towing an oversized load driven by Michael Lacourciere allegedly began backing along or across the roadway, causing Myhre’s truck to slow or stop. A tractor-trailer driven by Gary Schulte allegedly struck Myhre’s tractor-trailer, pushing the truck into another nearby semi truck.
Police cited Schulte with failure to stop at a safe and assured distance, while Lacourciere was cited with oversized load permit violation, failure to maintain control and warned for unsafe backing in connection with the accident.
Police are still investigating the accident.
