On or about Saturday, August 7th, 2021, around 8:37 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a box truck left a 51-year-old man dead. Representatives from the CHP said the accident was reported along Highway 29 just outside Middletown in Lake County, California.

Investigators said 51-year-old William James Wight was killed when his pickup truck was allegedly struck by a box truck that crossed over the center line of Highway 29. Paramedics pronounced Wight dead of his injuries a short time after the collision, but it is not immediately clear if he died at the scene or after being rushed to the hospital. Police identified the driver of the box truck as Frederick Gibson II, who suffered unspecified injuries in the collision.

According to Google Maps, Highway 29 runs north and south through Lake County, with the scene of the accident a short distance south of Middletown.
