On or about Friday, November 5th, 2021, around 7:38 in the morning, a major accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV sent a woman and a child to the hospital. Troopers from the KSP said the accident was reported along Highway 73 just outside Leavenworth, Kansas.
Investigators said an as-of-yet unidentified 30-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy were taken to the hospital after their SUV was allegedly rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Highway 73. Emergency responders transported the woman and child to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unhurt in the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance northwest of Leavenworth, which is about 33 miles northwest of downtown Kansas City.
Officials are still looking into the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
