On or about Friday, November 6th, 2020, around 3:00 in the morning, a head-on collision between a car and a tractor-trailer sent a Rhode Island woman to the hospital. Police said the collision happened in the southbound lanes of Amvets Memorial Highway (Route 24) near the exchange with Interstate 195 in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Authorities said an as-of-yet unidentified Rhode Island woman was injured when her car collided with an 18-wheeler while she was allegedly driving northbound in the southbound lanes. Paramedics cut the woman from the wreckage and transported her to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Google Maps, Amvets Memorial Highway (Route 24) is four lanes, with a metal barrier and a grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic. Fall River is situated about 52 miles south of Boston.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene of the accident to aid in the investigation.
