On or about Wednesday, November 4th, 2020, around 5:45 in the morning, an accident between a car and a parked tractor-trailer claimed the life of one person. Officials said the accident happened on the eastbound shoulder of Interstate 290 in Chicago, Illinois.
State Troopers said an as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when the car they were in allegedly collided with the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene from their injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was reportedly unhurt.
Examining I-290 on Google Maps reveals a six lane major thoroughfare, with a concrete barrier dividing east and westbound traffic. The area is situated about 14 miles west of downtown Chicago.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the accident to aid in the investigation.
