On or about Sunday, March 27th, 2022, around 10:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left a 19-year-old dead and sent two other people to the hospital. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 73 in Port Arthur, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives said 19-year-old Yavonne Mayes was killed and two other people were injured when the vehicle she was riding in allegedly collided with the back of a tractor-trailer along Highway 73. Paramedics pronounced Mayes dead after the accident, while the driver of the vehicle and another passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the collision.
According to Google Maps, Port Arthur is about 89 miles east of downtown Houston.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
